International Society for the Study of Classical Acupuncture (ISSCA)

Founded by Dr. Neal and several other colleagues and students in 2009, ISSCA serves as an educational community dedicated to scholarship, translation and preservation of classical acupuncture texts, and the sharing of information through clinical education and application. It is the sincere wish of ISSCA community members that through academic and clinical collaboration on such endeavors, the result becomes a weaving together in an elegant tapestry of our varying knowledge, experience and perspective related to the clinical art that is acupuncture. In this way, ISSCA’s goal is to implement these ancient ideas of acupuncture theory and practice into the modern world in such a way that it respects the paradigms of its creators.
Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine (ICEAM)

The Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine is an international organization to promote the education, research and clinical application of the classical writings of East Asian medicine. The institute offers post-graduate continuing education programs for East Asian medicine professionals through its branch institutes in both the USA and Europe. The institute is founded and directed by Dr. Arnaud Versluys, one of the very few Westerners to have received his full medical education in China where he trained for a total of twelve years to doctoral level with specialization in canonical formulas. He also trained in traditional discipleship for many years under the tutelage of acclaimed Shanghan expert, Dr. Zeng Rongxiu. Dr. Versluys founded the institute to promote the study and practice of the classics, improve clinical efficacy and preserve the original identity of East Asian medicine.

The Chinese Medicine Database has been organized around one central principle – translation of Classical Chinese texts, and dissemination of that information. This resource provides access to a many classical Chinese medical texts, otherwise not available in English. In addition to the website is a book publishing house and small press, as well as a regular lecture series based out of Portland, Oregon.

The Chinese Text Project is a web-based e-text system designed to present ancient Chinese texts, particularly those relating to Chinese philosophy, in a well-structured and properly cross-referenced manner, making the most of the electronic medium to aid in the study and understanding of these texts.
